Frozen (Formerly known as Frozen by Ken) @ Jalan Telawi 4, Bangsar

The Bangsar foodie community has never ceased to amaze us with the numerous openings of food related shops be it cafes, specialty restaurants and dessert parlors that continuously excites and whet our appetite for more food!

Well they certainly have done that again with the latest opening of  a dessert parlor which formerly housed the Malay food restaurant, BAE..
Well to me it was a blessing in the sky because the previous establishment food wasn't our cup of tea with the petite portion and overly priced drinks that just a proves to be a one time thing..

When the word got out that something new and exciting would be replace the BAE, I was actually very excited as I saw an Instagram post from the prominent Aussie pastry chef; Christy Tania with a cute and lovable post of that little durian!
They have an array of ice cream flavours to choose from and it can get really confusing and difficult just to nailed it down to one scoop but you can always opt for 2 or 3 scoops in a cup or cone or even create your own sundae!

And I can tell you that little durian king dessert was the highlight of every foodie in KL as it was truly the mascot for this Frozen outlet! Other than the Musang King dessert they do create other cute and photogenic plated ice cream dessert! They even recreate their version of the famous Ferrero Rocher coconut covered called the Raffaelo

It was the most sought after dessert due to it's really adorable presentation of the tiny Musang King dessert and also because the chef's artistry and magical combination of turning that strong odour that has a very silky and sweet taste into something elegant yet creamy ice cream dessert!

When we went to Frozen by Ken was during their soft opening season and there was a Ice Cream tasting platter for RM15 (Please check again the price on the menu as it was a promotional price)..
In this platter, you are given the envious and difficult task of choosing only 4 flavours from the wanderlust of flavours in that fantastic Ice cream counter.. I can tell you that it gets tougher as you are given the opportunity to have a mini taste test before doing that monumental decision in crafting that paddle of four cups of ice cream..

There is a wide array of delicious and attractive flavours that highlights the local favourite's and also the ones that was inspired either from the Japanese food or even something like as Aussie as the Golden Gay time!

Their Dark chocolate ice cream is to die for! It has a very prominent flavour of that bitterness of the chocolate which was well balanced with the creamy texture of the ice cream..
Their sorbet is also an excellent choice for a warm day to cool off! It has this fine yet smooth texture of the granita without having to bite an ice bites..
Their most popular flavour of sorbet is the Dragon fruit & Lychee! No one would ever thought of pairing this two diversely fruity end of the taste spectrum into one delicious and refreshing sorbet! The texture of it is really smooth like a well made granita and in terms of taste; the dragon fruit lends alot of it's colour and slight sweetness but it somehow managed to balanced out the overall sweetness that was contributed from the Lychee

Golden Crunch
My personal favourite from them all is the Golden Crunch which is actually inspired from the Australian ice cream classic of the Golden Gay Time! It has a mixture of different textures and flavours such as the salty caramel which lends a sticky yet thick element to the creamy ice cream and it was peppered with walnut bites in it as well! A must try in this ice cream parlor!
The King
If you aren't feeling the mood of having any ice cream in a cone or a cup, then you can move on to their back counter that houses the many funtastic and photogenic creations of the plated desserts all made of ice cream!
The most popular one is The King
This dessert has always been the feature of this dessert parlor with it's cute and quirky expression!
The King actually is the creation with the help of Australian pastry chef Christy Tania! This quirky little dessert is a Musang King durian ice cream interior with a marshmallow and sticky exterior..

Rum & Raisin
They also have the alcoholic ice cream flavours as well and that is the infamous Rum & Raisin
The Rum & Raisin has always been the fan favourite for those alcoholics at heart..
This ice cream has a surprisingly punchy kick of the rum from the raisin which was soaked and it  was very evident in every bite that you get from the ice cream.. The punchy alcohol accompanied with the sweetness of the raisin and from the rum goes rather smoothly with the creaminess of the vanilla based ice cream!

Verdict:
A fun filled place with Instagram worthy desserts!
Great ice cream which are handmade with interesting flavours & constantly a learning curve for you to discover!
