Eatomo @ Taman Desa

Konnichiwa!

Are you like me; a person that just can't live without Japanese cuisine or let alone the Sashimi ? Well if you are! I've found a place which caters all things fresh and its japanese as well with a touch of western too!
This little humble of joy is called the Eatomo which is located at the Taman Desa area which is a drive further away from the famous souffle cafe; Wild Sheep Chase!

It's actually very easy to spot this seafood joint as the sign of this restaurant is really huge and they have a big white arrow to point out exactly their location! Well can't blame us for always having eyes either on the road or on our phones..
Parking maybe a challenge if you're planning to visit for dinner but for lunch it's rather a breeze to find one..

So getting to this place may require you to burn ones calories either tea time or breakfast to get to their entrance and the moment you're inside; you're being treated with an amazing display of oysters! Love them as they are 3 choices of oysters and all look really huge!
Not to forget that you're being greeted with the atmosphere of a Japanese restaurant or Yakitori Bar would feel like!

After being seated, you're given a very simplistic yet informative menu that are filled mainly with pictures and a brief description of their dishes.. The menu itself has divided categories of sashimi, starters, udon, grilled meats and even desserts and also it has a different menu for their specials!
They also serves alcoholic drinks which are their sake, beers and wines..

Enough about their menu.. Let's eat!
California Poke Bowl (RM19.90)

So first off, we tried their California Poke Bowl which is basically made with a bed of calrose rice that has a dressing of spicy mayo, sashimi combination of both Tuna, Salmon, Butterfish & Octopus that is bathed in a Eatomo special Poke Marinade..
Besides that, this bowl of rice and assortment sashimi is then being surrounded with more toppings of guacamole, crab salad and masago..

It is great to mixed it well as it was plated in layers so once each elements are mixed together well.. Then you can only be able to taste the greatness of the poke bowl in varying textures and flavours! For us, in terms of taste and texture; the poke bowl is really delicious and it has a great balance that compliment well with each other considering that they have an array of sashimi.. The most surprising thing was the spicy mayo wasn't really overpowering neither on the palate nor on the poke bowl that sometimes might just overwhelms the sashimi.. The spicy mayo just has a hint of tingly and spicy sensation on the palate that just makes you wanting more!

Oysters
The 2nd thing to grace their presence to our table is the beautiful Pacific oysters (RM7.90 per piece) and they not only limited to the pacific oysters; they have an array of different nationality of oysters which they will feature in their menu! We were rather surprised that their oysters are really reasonable in price and the verdict is that the oysters are really fresh and succulent with the slight brine of the ocean that you would normally associate oysters with..

Fried Oyster Basket (RM19.90)
The 2nd rendition of oysters that we tried that was on the menu was the Fried Oyster Basket which has 5 pieces of oysters which are coated in panko bread crumb to be fried that gave this oyster a crunchy texture on the outside and soft and moist on the inside that goes amazingly well with their mayonnaise and lemon dip! Really delicious to eat that we soon realized it was all gone in a matter of minutes!

Sashimi (Salmon Belly, Butterfish & Yellow Fin)
The 3rd item that we ordered was their Sashimi.. Well you wouldn't go having a japanese meal without an ordering of sashimi and in Eatomo; they guarantee that their sashimi is all fresh and lovely!

So for this visit, we ordered their Salmon Belly, Butterfish and Yellow Fin..
Well, there is plenty of options to choose from and you will be having a rather difficult time even to begin with as their sashimi options are quite comprehensive yet affordable!
Well we choose the sashimi based on texture and taste and they are proud that their fish served for sashimi are fresh and cut based on order.. The texture of the yellow fin is really fresh, sweet and buttery!

Lemon Butter (RM28.90)
The 4th item that we had and also the only Best Seller  main course that is really created to share amongst friends or family unless you're a huge eater then this would be a walk on the park for you to enjoy! This dish is called as the Lemon Butter and you can find it in their Cast Iron Nabe section of the menu..

The presentation of this dish is really unique as the chef would presenting the heavy cast iron wok to your table that contains a bowl of fresh live clams which is steamed in a delicious sake lemon butter garlic sauce which is the sweet nectar hidden at the bottom of the wok and this pipping hot wok of clams is served with a bowl of calrose rice..
The presentation does shock us in awe with their staff and the chef especially in ensuring that the dishes are made to order and pipping hot to their guest from the stove and direct to their table!
The pipping hot wok which has a generous portion of the live clam is really beautiful and fresh and after much documentation of the dish, we finally dug in the wok and searching for those juicy clams.. In terms of the clams, the clams has a plump and juicy flesh and it was cooked perfectly well with the lemon juice and the sake that was used is towards the sweet side.. As the sauce is really zesty that complements amazingly with the clams..

Sakura Raindrop Cake (RM15)
Lastly, we are in our last course of the meal from this wonderful place! We ended it with a lovely yet delicate dessert from the Eatomo and not to forget the best sellers in their menu; Sakura Raindrop Cake..Well you may think that it is an ordinary cake but the appearance will surprise you even more with it's rather transparent like appearance that reveals a delicate sakura flower..

This dessert is one of the most sought after desserts being that it is really photogenic, unique and it's not too overwhelmingly sweet to the diners after a sumptous meal of seafood.. The moment it came to the table, it just looks amazing and simple as how the Japanese would love to plate it as.. We can see that the Raindrop cake is really wobbly yet it retains the structure.. As you gently pierce the cake with the petite fork that was provided, you can feel the texture of it somehow similar to the Konnyaku jelly that we are familiar with.. This cake is being accompanied by Injeoimi and gula melaka..

The powder mixed with the gula melaka and eaten alongside the sakura cake brought out another dimension of flavours such as the nutty notes that you would reminiscent of the mochi peanut coating and it is really fragrant too.. The gula melaka together with the sakura cake is gave the cake a sweet and fragrant note of caramel which is truly enjoyable! The flower is edible!

Verdict:

A very straight forward  menu filled with fresh and delicious seafood with an affordable price
The service is still lacking so please be patient.
