103 Coffee Workshop @ Sri Petaling

Sri Petaling is the latest hub for food & beverage related owners to unleash their inner creativity to the people with its creatively named desserts, interesting coffees and all things Pork! This is a township which is heavily populated with upcoming dessert bars like the Dessert Bar by Stanley Choong and Neighbourhood which is famous for their fuwa fuwa pancakes!

Before it was all about the fuwa fuwa pancakes, there was already a celebrity in the midst of those economy rice shops and hawker stores which the well known cafe of 103 Coffee Workshop which its interior has a stark contrast of decor and also vibe in comparison to the other cafes which is really minimalist..
This cafe is really noticeable with it's garden feel and black exterior and not to forget it's most prominent black door!

This cafe really exudes a strong vibe of minimalist with its grey facade of mainly  exposed concrete walls and the black or grey furniture! The songs here are really relaxing.. It is actually one of the most visited cafes in the Sri Petaling township as it provides not only coffee but sweet and savoury dishes that has influences of Japanese, Western and a touch malaysian flair into it!

All the seating are only indoor and you can choose this place for either meetings or just a basic catch up.. The cafe may get crowded during the dinner time so be sure to come here early to avoid disappointment..

We were greeted warmly upon the arrival of this cafe by the friendly waiters but bare in mind when I was in here, the servers only converse with me in mandarin.. Immediately we are ushered to our seats and there are various type of seating for you to choose from.. If you're looking for comfortable seating, it would be the sofa area which is hidden with a large barrier, otherwise you can opt to seat with a larger table against the wall..

Once we are seated, we were given the menu and we noticed that the table is well equipped with a bottle of plain water to quench our thirst and also there is a large can with the table number as well the password for it's wifi.. Sadly their wifi isn't reliable to begin with and the table that we gotta has a rather small table to fit everything for 2 pax..

The menu is quite extensive as they have pictures for certain items and the rest mainly very short and precise descriptions.. They have savoury and sweet dishes and various options of drinks from coffee, tea and juices!
After much studying and ponder on what to try for this visit, we finally decided to go for some tea time snacks which is what was on offered actually..
Yes! They are running a promotions like the lunch promo and the tea time promo.. Well we are here for the tea time promo made available during 3-6pm and it has a catch of we have to purchase a  drink and with it comes 15% discount for the desserts and 30% for the snacks..

House Made Cold Brew (RM13.90)
The waiting time isn't long as their service is really speedy and within moments; the drinks has graced its presence! First up is the Cold Brew which is packaged quite creatively in a glass bottle that is reminiscent to the medicine bottle found in the clinics..

Strawberry Latte(RM14.90)
The 2nd drink to arrive is the Strawberry Latte which is one of the drink creation that caught our attention in the menu alone.. The presentation of this drink is really pretty and photogenic enough to be in the Instagram feed..
The moment this drink arrives, there isn't an explanation provided by the server in the steps to experience this drink as it was really deconstructed for the purpose of your own enjoyment..
After trying to get the attention from one of the fellow servers which we finally been given an education in the art of enjoying such a deconstructed drink..
The server mentioned to us is to have one of the strawberry ice cubes to really taste and savor it before it is being incorporated with the espresso and milk..
The cubes are just to taste but don't finish it!  Then, you can pour a little amount of espresso which is still hot and a sufficient amount of milk.. It is basically a personal preferences kind of thing in terms of creating your strawberry latte as the server suggest to pour a small amount of it as the espresso which they brewed is really strong and intense!
Matcha Panna Cotta (RM11.90)
One of their most instagrammed dessert is the Matcha Panna Cotta.. This is an interesting as I was thinking of a cafe like this will have very simple kind of dessert but to our surprised it was a well made dessert.. This panna cotta is inspired with the Japanese dessert of green tea ice cream with a side of the sweet red bean paste..
They truly manage to achieve the balance between the bitterness and the leafy aroma and after taste which you would get from the green tea and being that the panna cotta has a creamy and sweet notes but it was really a harmonious dessert! We really enjoyed it the creamy and smooth texture of the panna cotta and it is overly sweet or bitter..

Verdict:

Great place to have some well made coffee
Try to catch the lunch or tea time promotion
Wifi is rather slow here
