Foo Foo Fine Desserts @ TTDI

Bonjour!

How is everyone? Time do really flies and we are already in our 3rd  quarter of the 2017..
Well why not just cherish every moment of it with an amazing plated dessert from a little dessert place hidden in the TTDI area that is just right opposite of the mighty shopping malls of the 1 Utama and the Ikea & The Curve of Mutiara Damansara..

It is actually located at the same row as the Frisky Goat cafe and the Meat Point as well the wine shop; Corks Out! This little dessert haven is located on the 1st floor and its quite easily to be missed as the dessert place is right above it with a brightly lite signage with a very unique window that do reminisce of a Glass House that you would spot in those garden overseas..
They are really a relax group of people that just emphasize on giving their guest a homey and comfy feeling with their laid back sofa and fluffy pillows and the outdoor seating.. Do note that it is a non-smoking dessert place..
They recently launched a new wine list that goes amazingly well with the desserts! But for now you still can bring along your favourite wine to savour alongside their beautiful dessert for a fee of RM40..

Let's get back to their dessert!
After much studying of their menu which is actually really straightforward with different section that consists of plated desserts, unique concoction of ice creams and cakes and you also choose this place as the venue for celebration as they do have cakes but do order it in advance!

"Absolutely eat dessert first. The thing that you want to do the most, do that."-Joss Whedon

First up!
Strawberry Tart with Balsamic Vinegar Ice Cream which is one of their signatures on the menu and it is also the dessert that is featured in the Time Out KL!

From the arrival of this majestic desserts that we ordered, the strawberry tart looks really amazing and mouth watering to eat and the Balsamic Vinegar ice cream does made this tart looks like a crown fit for a queen as it was intricately decorated with beautifully sliced fresh strawberries..

The tart crust looks really delicate and it was made with immense care and love that was to our surprised holds well despite there was a custard being filled in it and the scoop of melting Balsamic Vinegar.. The tart crust doesn't crumble so easily when we start to poke it in and the whole crust just tasted so silky and buttery with a side of citrus, creamy and silky custard that complements well with the tartness and sweet notes that you would get from the fresh sliced strawberry..

The Balsamic Vinegar is something really interesting as it is quite a sour element that is well known as a starter for dinners or salads or even for reduction purposes.. For this instance, it was used as an element of a dessert that is really unique and exciting on the palate and the senses.. This balsamic ice cream just brought out the sweetness and sticky notes that you would get from the reduction of a sauce but this sticky sweet notes enhances it really  well with the tartness of the strawberry..
No wonder it is a must try!

The second dessert that we ordered is the Red Wine Poached Pear with Chrysanthemum Ice cream and Jelly.. This is the only dish that contains alcoholic which is the red wine that is used in the poaching liquid for the pears.. I'm really excited for this dish as I have seen it numerous times on those cooking shows and competitions but never got the chance to taste it as it was rather hard to find such a dessert in the restaurant..

The moment our eyes locked into this particular dish on the menu, we knew that we gotta have it irregardless of our stomach space as this a rare treat for us! It doesn't take really long to wait for this dish to arrive to our table as it was made ahead of time as the poaching of the pear does require a long time (3-4 hours approximately) as the pear is the hardest thing to poach to achieve their soft and tender yet slightly crunchy texture..
Red Wine Poached Pear with Chrysanthemum Ice cream (RM29)
It's hard to get a great photo from this dish as the poached pear is really dark in colour but don't let the colour of the pear freak you out as it just brings out the excitement and pure joy in every bite from it!
After a few trials in documenting the beautiful poached pear that we immediately prepare our cutleries for the delight of trying out the pear along side the chrysanthemum ice cream before it melts into a soup..
It was really a surprising thing that the pear is perfectly poached as the texture of the pear is still crunchy yet tender despite long poaching time but in taste it was really amazing as the pear has a strong and peppery note and it was accompanied with some notes of ripe red fruits like the plums, cranberry and figs and a hint of sweet spices; cinnamon and cloves.. It was really full of flavour that just dances in my palate together with the chrysanthemum ice cream which is floral and also the toasted nuts that made it much more enjoyable with another dimension of texture and flavours and you somehow can get a hint of sweetness from the nuts..

Mango & Lychee Ice cream slice
The 3rd dessert that we ordered is the Mango & Lychee Ice cream slice.. This is actually the latest dessert to be featured in their latest menu.. In terms of the description, it does sound really simple but the simplicity of food is the hardest to achieve..

This ice cream slice is an interesting dessert as with our humidity and warm temperature this kind of ice cream dessert can really melt very fast for you to enjoy but surprisingly their ice cream slice stills hold incredibly well and its still very cold to our palate..
The two layers of the ice cream slice is really smooth and sweet yet there was a fruity burst that showcase the strong presence of the mango that you can imagine the sweet, fleshy and ripe juicy mango flesh that you would eat directly from the fruit itself.. There was also a mango chutney and slices of longan that is really refreshing and sweet yet it compliments so well with the creaminess of the longan layer of the ice cream..

Tahini Chocolate Mousse (RM26)

The 4th and last dessert that we'be chosen to try out is an interesting dessert combination in terms of flavour; Tahini Chocolate Mousse and honey comb and peanut shards.. This is an interesting combination as tahini is an ingredient that is heavily associated with hummus making.. It really caught our eyes when it was featured in their menu and we had to try it out!

It doesn't take very long to wait for its graceful arrival to the table.. The presentation of it is really beautiful yet mouthwatering! After a quick shot to document it's beauty to last a lifetime, we carefully forked it that multiple texture layer of this dessert..

Traditionally, a mousse dessert is basically plated in a sundae cup or a glass bowl but the Foo Foo rendition of their mousse is really free standing and it wasn't the mousse that I would expect it to be!

The chocolate mousse is actually very airy as we can see the entire wall of this wall of chocolate is filled with fine air pockets and there was also a thin adequate layer of smooth and not overly sweet white chocolate layer that binds the layer of tahini dark chocolate mousse and its crumbly yet nutty base layer of this entire construction..
The chocolate mousse is then being decorated with jewels of handmade honeycomb and its crunchy peanut shards that is really buttery, crispy and crunchy! The toppings not only brought out the aesthetic beauty of it but also enhances the entire dessert with its sesame flavoured and salty component that further improves the dark chocolate and it brought out another dimension of texture, flavour alongside the saltiness that balances out the bitterness of the dark chocolate.. The honeycomb and the peanut brittle really gave the chocolate mousse a honey, floral sweetness with a touch of umami from it's salt element and also the nuttiness which reminiscent to a chocolate sundae with sprinkles of crunchy buttery peanut! Addition of tahini is truly a work of art!

Truly enjoyable plate of dessert!
